SUMMARY:Pluviam - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Pluviam plus guests The Rants + Vee + Kick The Clown \nWith the band’s sell out debut single launch show still ringing in their ears\, Pluviam are taking to the road. To celebrate their EP ‘The Rain’ hitting the airwaves\, the band’s tour will include shows in London\, Liverpool and Manchester before a big finale in their hometown\, Birmingham. \nPluviam was formed in February 2018 when vocalist James Riley and drummer\, Mike Tabone embarked on musical experimentations which led them to discover their signature sound which mixes Metal with Indie Rock and Modern Experimental Music. It wasn’t long before the duo became a band\, when they were joined by guitarist Tom Boddison and bassist Calvert Stevens. \nSince then\, their growing reputation has seen them enjoy radio play from Janice Long on BBC Radio Wales\, as well as features on many online magazines including ‘Loud Horizon’ who described the band’s sound as ‘combining the vocal style of Tom Yorke with a heavy raucous Linkin Park inspired backing.’ \nThe new EP ‘The Rain’ seeks to take the band’s sound to new heights. It will be available on all major streaming platforms on the 8th of November.

SUMMARY:Babybird - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Babybird + guests \nBabybird is a musical project centred around songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Jones\, who has been releasing music since 1995. While Jones’ early solo work was released under the “Baby Bird” name\, the altered “Babybird” was first used to distinguish the full band line-up that has changed often over the years. However in recent years\, Jones has recorded many of the Babybird albums himself\, in addition to recording as a solo artist\, and under various aliases including Death Of The Neighbourhood\, Trucker\, Black Reindeer\, Deluder\, Arthritis Kid and others. \nStephen Jones started writing and recording songs at home and his first collection of these demos\, I Was Born a Man\, was released in July 1995 using the name Baby Bird. He formed a band in order to tour and promote this work. In 1996\, Babybird signed to Echo Records and their first single was released in July 1996.  The band then split. Jones continued on his own\, writing fiction\, releasing solo work and created the score for the film Blessed. In October 2005\, the band reformed with three members and created another album released in September 2006. They went on tour in November 2009 and then split again in 2013. After a number of Babybird releases on Bandcamp from 2015\, Jones took the band back out on tour in late 2017 with a new line up. A compilation album Happy Stupid Nothing was released in 2019\, featuring a selection of Babybird tracks from 2015 onwards .

SUMMARY:Buck & Evans - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Buck & Evans plus guests Sweet Crisis \nAsk Chris Buck whether he agrees with BBC Radio 2’s Blues Show’s assessment that Buck & Evans are “unquestionably major talents” and it’ll inevitably draw a wry smile. His surprise at the broadcaster’s effusive statement is hardly surprising. After all\, it was only a few years ago that he played his first gig with vocalist Sally Ann Evans – a “one off pairing” to accommodate an eleventh hour offer for a show in London. “We quickly threw together a 45 minute set to get us both through that one show” laughs Sally Ann. \nBuck. And Evans\, literally. \nFast forward 4 years and the “one off pairing” (soon cemented by AC/DC stand-in drummer Bob Richards and bassist Dominic Hill) can count Slash\, Bernie Marsden and Adrian Smith among their fast-growing fanbase. Indeed\, it was only 4 months after that innocuous first gig that Buck & Evans were Arizona-bound to play an open-air fundraiser before closing the event as the Guns N’ Roses legend’s backing band\, prompting Slash to dub Chris “a fu*king awesome guitar player”. \nWith a brace of critically acclaimed EPs in their armoury and industry veteran Alan Niven at the rock and soul quartet’s helm\, the meteoric progression of those first few months was to be a sign of things to come; playlisted on the countries’ biggest radio stations (Planet Rock\,  BBC Radio 2 etc)\, sold out shows and festival slots covering the length and breadth of the UK and fulsome reviews flooding in from both sides of the Atlantic\, (“Fleetwood Mac-esque reverie – pulsating groove\, swirling guitars and soaring harmonies” – Blabbermouth) Buck & Evans are set to take their exciting brand of “ exquisite rock and soul” (Classic Rock Magazine) to the next level. And with festivals such as Download\, Ramblin’ Man Fair\, Stone Free and Azkena Rock as well as a 2019 debut album soon to be under their belt\, it may finally be time to acknowledge that this ‘one off’ is here to stay…

SUMMARY:Declan Welsh & The Decadent West - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Declan Welsh & The Decadent West plus guests \nDeclan Welsh and his troubadour gang have recently performed at the Labour For Socialism event ‘Concert For Corbyn’ in Glasgow\, and played in Palestine with an orchestra of child refugees\, which gives you an idea of just how committed the young Glaswegian is to effecting change in the world he sees. Described by some as a modern amalgamation of Joe Strummer and Billy Bragg\, Welsh certainly isn’t timid in challenging the political status quo himself. \nFortunately\, he’s also got the songs to back it up. Recent tracks like ‘Nazi Boys’ and ‘Shiny Toys’ exhibit an indie rock band already reaching for stadium anthems\, while ‘Useless’ showcases an emotional ballast to back it all up. Whether Welsh can change the world remains to be seen\, but as a dynamic and ambitious songwriter\, he’s throwing everything into it right now.

SUMMARY:The Extons - MCR
DESCRIPTION:The Extons plus guests \nThe Extons sound packs a punch\, with memorable guitar riffs and anthemic choruses about small-town monotony and the 9-5 drudgery. Already making a name for themselves\, with early demo\, Grown Ups\, being featured as BBC introducing’s track of the week and played by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1. They have since released 3 singles including “I Won’t Leave Lonely” Which has seen consistent plays on amazing radio\, acclaim from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music & Huw Stephens on bbc radio 1. The single unapologetically hits listeners in the face and blends the simplicity of the The Strokes with the energy of Catfish and the Bottlemen and the lyrical grit of Jake Bugg’s Early Material.

SUMMARY:SPQR - MCR
DESCRIPTION:SPQR plus special guests Sweet Deals On Surgery + The Demo \n\nMaking vicious\, emotionally mature art rock that’s as deeply layered as it is visceral\, they’re a band as likely to break your heart on record as they are to tear your face off live\, with frontman Peter Harrison’s nuanced songwriting and impressive vocal range possessing an emotional depth seldom found in such a young artist. \n\nThe trio of weird-rock misfits are equally at home delivering tight\, staccato grooves as they are expansive hip-shaking choruses\, with rhythm section Bex Denton and Jack Sanders providing the perfect foundation for Harrison’s freaky guitar colourations and his intensely passionate\, crystal-clear voice. Pin-balling erratically from hellbent rock to masterfully adept emotive soundscapes\, theirs is a sonic arsenal littered with diversity\, be it tender balladry\, lurching epics\, or out-and-out primal anger.

SUMMARY:The Lutras - MCR
DESCRIPTION:The Lutras plus guests The Rotanas + Shade + Tin Mole \n\nBritish Rock foursome The Lutras formed in Dumfries\, Scotland in 2016. Two years hitting the live circuit playing over three hundred shows to impassioned audiences across the UK\, has seen The Lutras master their live set\, build a strong fanbase and forged their very own unique sound which sits somewhere between Rock and Pop. \n\n\nBen Clements (Vocals / Guitar)\, Danny Heron (Bass)\,Thomas Gillan (Guitar) & Finlay Maxwell (Drums) connected over a common Influence of 60’s/70’s rock. The sound was built on a mutual love of 60’s\, big choruses\, but it’s certainly not without its pop elements with comparisons to artists like the The Faces\, Eagles\, and Paulo Nutini. \n\n\nClements & Heron’s songwriting displays fine examples of their influences on debut single ‘Run & Hide’ released on 22nd November ’18. The first release has seen the bands fanbase grow from strength to strength with a sell out 350 cap hometown show at The Venue (Dumfries) in December to a sold out support slot with Vida at Liquid rooms\, Edinburgh (800cap). \n\nThe band are currently locked away writing and recording demos to take into the studio with Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic\, Fatherson\, The Lapelles) with at least two new singles planned for release this year. The next few months see the band tour all over the UK hitting Glasgow\, London\, Edinburgh\, Birmingham\, Liverpool\, Newcastle & Manchester. Eden Festival\, Electric Fields\, Dogfest and many other festivals to be announced.

SUMMARY:Dollie Demi - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Dollie Demi plus guests Venus + Queen Cult \nDollie Demi are a 4 piece all girl band from Manchester with a mix genre of garage rock\, pop and punk. They have supported notable bands such as Dream Wife\, Nile Marr and Queen Zee\, and recently headlined The Jacaranda in Liverpool. \n“Headstrong\, razor-sharp garage rock from Manchester”- DIY MAGAZINE \n“Was it worth turning up two hours early to make sure that I heard Dollie Demi? Too right it was. They blew me away with their pop-tinged punk reminiscent of X-Ray Spex. They were aggressive\, tuneful\, and the audience took great delight in their tracks such as Boys Suck. It was such a good performance that I had to text our editor at Popped Music to tell them about it – and add their tracks to a playlist straight away. Give them a listen\, follow them on social media\, and make sure that you catch them live.” – Popped Music

SUMMARY:Johnny Lloyd - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Johnny Lloyd plus guests \nJohnny Lloyd has come a long way\, along riskier roads\, finding a plot of his own and starting to rebuild. In 2014\, after two top 40 albums\, world tours and support slots with Pixies and The Rolling Stones\, Johnny disbanded the critically and commercially beloved Tribes. Taking the hazy pop sound he’d spearheaded with is bandmates\, Johnny spent little in time taking it into darker\, rougher territory. He founded a new musical home and friendships with Jamie T\, Mike Crossey (The 1975\, Hozier) and Hugo White (The Maccabees)\, who helped guide the recording of his first two solo EPs. His debut EP ‘Dreamland’\, released in 2016 by Xtra Mile Recordings and produced by Jamie T and Hugo White is a rousing but melancholic attempt to “find a new place in life” full of “new beginnings (and) realisations”. His journey continued on 2017’s Eden EP\, which shows further depth to Johnny’s sound and intentions. But after almost 200 shows in support of his new songs\, in the UK and Mexico\, and with plans for a debut album well on their way\, a new route presented itself. \nJohnny started to expand his songwriting abilities a way from his own songs and instead producing music for television and film with over 1\,000 uses of Johnny’s music on TV in 2017 alone. This included film trailers\, the acclaimed serial killer biopic My Friend Dahmer and even getting the chance to score his first full length feature film\, Rare Beasts\, in 2018. As productive as he was in the last 12 months\, and relishing his work\, a lot had begun to change in Johnny’s life and his own music now needed to reflect that. \n“I had all these songs by the end of 2018 that I’d been holding back from my film work. I knew there was something brewing but it all felt a little more personal than maybe I was used to in the past. A lot has changed in my life. I met someone special\, and I’ve become a dad; my whole subject matter has changed. I wanted to make something more intimate and without the restraints of a band.” \nEnsconced in a 10ft square bunker in north London\, far from the bright lights of Hollywood\, Johnny and producer Nathan Coen laid down just one law for the debut album. \n“The only rule on the whole thing was: no more than three takes. I wanted it to be raw and have an element of risk to it. I love polished pop\, but I’m not that.” For the finishing touches Johnny called in talented mates Frank Turner\, Hugo White (The Maccabees) and Adam Prendergast of Harry Styles’s band. “It’s always great making music with friends and I wanted that unknown element to come from people I respect and trust.”
