SUMMARY:Nathan Sanderson
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday & Saturday 7-8pm and every Sunday 2-3pm.\n\n \n‘From Miles Davis and The Dave Brubeck Quartet\, to Elvis Presley and The Beatles\, from Bill Withers to Neil Diamond\, I enjoy playing a wide range of 20th century music. Being raised on Northern Soul\, Motown and Blues\, soulful music is where my roots lie. My interest in Jazz formed early on in my childhood\, I then spent a good part of my early adolescence discovering artists such at Cab Calloway and Nina Simone. Exploring music through the piano has always been my greatest outlet in life. Not only allowing me to express my self where words failed me\, but also to find new passions in the music world\, to pick up new instruments and form life long friendships along the way. Playing at Jimmy’s is a very gratifying experience and I hope you get as much pleasure out of my music\, as I do playing it.’

SUMMARY:Turnover - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Turnover plus guests Newmoon \nHailing from Virginia Beach\, Turnover emerged in the early part of the 2010s\, quickly outgrowing their emo and punk roots to create a more introspective sound that bordered on dream pop and melodic\, guitar-based indie rock. Nurturing longtime relationships with both Run for Cover Records and Philadelphia producer Will Yip\, the band continued to evolve their lush\, hazy sound over records like 2015’s Peripheral Vision and 2019’s Altogether. \nFormed in 2009\, Turnover initially established themselves as an emo-pop act in the vein of bands like the Get Up Kids and Texas Is the Reason before transitioning into a more contemplative dream pop style. The quartet\, made up of Casey and Austin Getz\, Danny Dempsey\, and Eric Soucy\, jumped onto the scene in 2011 with a self-titled EP. A split single with Citizen followed the next year before the band would make its full-length debut in early 2013 with Magnolia on Run for Cover Records. Turnover’s sophomore release\, 2015’s Peripheral Vision\, represented a shift in style toward more melodic\, dreamy indie rock. This tonal change was continued on their third LP\, 2017’s Good Nature\, which\, like its predecessor\, was produced by Will Yip. While he appeared on Good Nature\, guitarist Eric Soucy departed just prior to the album’s August release. Turnover carried on as a trio with touring guitarists filling Soucy’s role on stage. A cross-country move to California found frontman\, Austin Getz\, geographically separated from his two bandmates\, though they continued to collaborate on new material. Reconvening back East at longtime producer Yip’s Studio 4\, Turnover continued to explore new ground\, adding lounge and jazz flourishes to their increasingly pop-oriented sound. Their fourth album\, Altogether\, was released by Run for Cover in late 2019.

SUMMARY:Space - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Space plus guests \nTommy Scott (then bass player)\, Jamie Murphy\, and Andy Parle formed Space in 1993 and aimed for a Who-influenced sound\, releasing a 12-inch single entitled “Is It Real”. After Franny Griffiths\, an old friend and former member of Scott’s earlier group Hello Sunset\, was brought in to join them on keyboards and electronics a year later\, establishing their trademark style. The band secured a recording contract with Gut Records who released their first single\, “Money” in 1995. The single “Neighbourhood”‘ followed in 1996 but it was not until the release of their next single\, “Female of the Species”\, that they achieved popular acclaim. This song was also the theme song to the UK television series Cold Feet. \nTheir debut album Spiders\, released in September 1996\, enjoyed success and went platinum in the UK. “Female of the Species” also gained moderate airplay on college radio and MTV in the United States\, and was widely seen and heard in Australia on the nationally broadcast ABC-TV music video show rage and on the ABC national rock station Triple-J. The line-up increased with the addition of bassist/multi-instrumentalist Yorkie – who started working with the band years before their success with Spiders – in late 1996\, so that Scott could concentrate more on vocals and guitar. \nA tour of the US followed in mid-1997 which was less successful than many had hoped\, with stories of homesickness and in Murphy’s case a severe nervous breakdown\, as well as Scott losing his voice for two months. The death of Yorkie’s mother Gladys Palmer\, a local Liverpool singer\, devastated the band\, and Parle left the group straight after the band completed work on their second album. Caffrey was quickly chosen to take over from Parle. \nThe new record\, entitled Tin Planet\, was a more mature\, focused release than Spiders and was issued in spring 1998\, hitting number three in the UK Albums Chart. Like its predecessor\, it became a success\, but it did upset some fans due to its more softer\, pop-friendly songs and the lack of the much more aggressive tracks found on Spiders. In late 1998\, for a Honda advertisement\, Space recorded a version of The Animals‘ “We Gotta Get out of This Place“\, which was featured on The Bad Days EP. The band also recorded a track together with singer Tom Jones for his album Reload\, released in 1999. \nIn 2001\, Space parted ways with Gut following certain issues with the label\, including the constant postponing of their third album Love You More than Football. Murphy departed from the band the same year\, leading to the band retreating from the public eye and release their music to their fans via their website. These recordings were known as Music for Aliens. \nAfter a three-year break from public attention\, Space returned in 2004 to release Suburban Rock ‘n’ Roll\, their first proper release of new material since Tin Planet. It failed to earn critical and commercial recognition. The lukewarm reception of the releases and the problems with getting a recording contract\, made it financially impossible to carry on. In 2005\, Space announced their decision to go their separate ways. \nSince the band’s original break-up\, most of the former members have continued to play in bands and music industry: Scott\, along with Phil Hartley\, a former live technician for the group\, formed a punk band called the Drellas\, which in its final incarnation included Allan Jones on drums and Ryan Clarke on vintage keys. Hartley\, who plays bass\, also produces for the band\, along with other Antipop Records acts such as Metro Manila Aide\, The Dead Class\, The Temps and Fraktures. Franny Griffiths was with Murphy and Vinnie Camilleri (who played guitar for The Beatles Pre- Ringo drummer Pete Best) with their band Dust\, and also making R&B under the name Subway Showdown\, while Yorkie is producing for Shack. Franny also co-writes & produces with Vinnie Camilleri for Spaceman V Man. \nAndy Parle died on 1 August 2009\, aged 42\, in Liverpool. Police said they were treating Parle’s death as “unexplained” after he was seen to fall while crossing the road. Eyewitnesses described Parle tripping and falling after trying to run across a road in Liverpool at around 11.30pm on Saturday. They said he had been inside the Park Road Fish Bar in Dingle. Some locals ran to his aid and tried to revive him. A taxi full of passengers also stopped to help and paramedics were called\, however he died later at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Dave Palmer\, his former bandmate\, said: “It’s the saddest\, most tragic end you could have.” He added that Parle had been “a brilliant drummer”. \nIn November 2011 Space announced they would reunite for a gig at Christmas to be held at the O2 Academy in their home town of Liverpool. The line-up reunites original members Scott\, Murphy and Griffiths as well as some new faces\, who have previously played in Scott’s current band The Red Scare (formerly known as the Drellas). They also announced the release of a new album\, entitled Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab\, and a world tour in 2012. After two years in the making (which were disrupted by Murphy’s second departure)\, the album was eventually released in March 2014\, preceded by the lead single “Fortune Teller”. In July\, keyboardist Ryan Clarke left the group to focus on other projects. As part of their 20th Anniversary\, Space announced a tour throughout March 2014 alongside Republica. \nIn November 2015\, Space released the single “Strange World” as a stopgap between albums. In 2016\, the band announced that they were working on a new album entitled Give Me Your Future\, recorded with Steve Levine\, famed for his work with Culture Club. Early copies of the album were sold at Space’s homecoming gig at The Arts Club on 22 December 2017\, with widespread distribution due in the new year. \nIn 2019\, a boxset entitled The Anthology was announced for release in November. It contains the band’s first five studio albums\, including the previously unreleased Love You More than Football\, plus B-sides and rarities.

SUMMARY:We're All Aliens - LPL
DESCRIPTION:We’re All Aliens plus guests Return Of The Native + Crawlers \nThere was a moment at the beginning of 2019 when Merseyside Hard Rock Band We’re All Aliens debut album looked like never happening.  With studio time booked and a tour in the offing\, the band’s plans were totally derailed by singer JJ’s cancer diagnosis. \n“I was told the cancer was treatable but I might never sing again” says JJ. \nWith this in mind\, the first single ‘I Am An Alien’ hastily appeared to create the beginnings (or the endings) of a rock’n’roll footprint that had been sketched out by JJ and his long time collaborator and guitar player Biff.  Drummer ‘The Big A’ and Parisian Anglophile Laurent Barucq completed the picture. \nThe band entered Neon Palms studios in Northwich\,  with no one really sure if the band had a future at all given the question marks over the health of their singer.  Sessions took place in between operations and radiation treatment resulting in the album and title track ‘Get A Life.’  It’s the urgent  sound of a band in a hurry\, playing quite literally\, as if their future depended on it. \nWith flavours ranging from late 80’s anthemic with a hint of chilli pepper groove  to the gnarly post grunge of Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden\, it’s a sound firmly rooted in the US rock genre\, one foot on the monitor and a fist in the air.  The lyrics betray a thoughtfulness that lends itself to that slightly more English sensibility and its a concoction that works like a charm. \n“In the end\, just getting the record made felt like a dream come true in itself.” continues JJ. \nThe album starts with ‘Get A Life’ and finishes with ‘Second Chances. They bookend and ink the album thematically suggesting a willingness for everyone to get out there and live their best life.  The other songs develop themes around humanity and a an optimism to connect people together. It has all the youthful optimism attached to that ambition\, but the knowledge\, experience and expertise of the real life grown up world. \nThe title track and the follow up ‘Where Do You Stand’ carry all the provocative hall marks of a classic hard rock band eager to make its mark. It’s the sound of their fifteen year old selves record collection with all the optimism to boot. The playing and the songcraft however is the sound of grown up experience\, weary of the times but optimistic for the future. \n“We believe rock’n’roll can save your soul\,” says Biff. \nWe’re All Aliens debut will be released on February 07 2020 and is available for preorder now.  The title track has received a great response from the rock radio community getting airplay on platforms such as the Johnny Doom show on Kerrrang. \nWe’re All Aliens are: \nJJ: Vocals\nBiff: Guitars\nThe Big A: Drums\nLaurent Barucq: Bass

SUMMARY:My Life Story - LPL
DESCRIPTION:My Life Story plus guests \n“[Jake Shillingford] …One of our most colourful lyricists” STEVE LAMACQ\, BBC 6 MUSIC \nWith a string of top 40 hit singles and albums in the 1990s\, epic pop pioneers\, My Life Story received huge critical acclaim with their brand of grand\, orchestral pop\, leading many artists of the Britpop era to feature them on their records. Heading up this clever\, witty and beautiful wall of sound is the charismatic frontman Jake Shillingford\, famous for his sharp tongue and even sharper suits. Vocalist and songwriter Shillingford has cowritten and coproduced the highly anticipated album ‘World Citizen’ alongside guitarist Nick Evans creating a new and distinctly rockier sound. \n‘World Citizen’ is released on 6th September and is preceded by a single the inordinately catchy ‘Taking On The World’\, released on 23rd August. \nMy Life Story has had a varied and illustrious past: playing the main stage at Glastonbury and the orchestra collaborating with acts such as Marc Almond\, Morrissey\, The Pogues and The Wonderstuff\, amongst many other incredible achievements. Never ones to completely stand still\, in 2016 the band released a brand new single 24 Hour Deflowerer and gained a whole host of new fans and devotees on the back of this and a two-year run of 90s nostalgia festival dates throughout the UK. Always a hugely popular and tight live act thanks to high-energy singalong favourites including 12 Reasons Why I Love Her\, Strumpet\, Sparkle and The King of Kissingdom. This boost in profile spawned requests for a new album. \nTaking a break from writing film and TV music\, Jake and the band crowd-funded their fourth studio album\, the first in nearly two decades\, in August 2018 through PledgeMusic. After the unexpected collapse of Pledge the band\, undeterred\, returned to their DIY roots and started all over again by moving all the pledges to their own website where fans can pre-order their copies of the album on vinyl\, CD\, and download. Recording the new album was an exciting and creative period\, not least because the tools of creativity have moved on a bit since the 90’s. As Jake says: “It was fantastic to be back in the studio with Nick\, but working away from film and TV scores and onto something more personal and visceral.  Having a live orchestra on the album was very important to us but this time we recorded the strings in Budapest via Skype\, which was something I’d never have imagined back in the 90s.” \nIt is important to remember that although My Life Story have an enviable and flamboyant back catalogue and delight in performing all their well-loved songs about life and love back in the day\, the band are still\, and always were\, ultimately a forward- thinking creative animal. Unafraid to absorb the strange-itudes from the unstable world around us over recent years\, the band have created beautiful\, bold\, outspoken music from it. Indeed\, the new album takes all human themes to task as well as global concerns. As Jake says \n“’World Citizen’ was composed during the recent chaotic global news landscape where reality as we thought we knew it is constantly being reinvented…  In dark times we find safety in what we know and understand. It’s about returning to the sense of the self\, the freedom and simplicity of nature and the clarity and honesty of love and union. Ultimately\, I’d say the theme of the album is searching for truth in a world full of lies.  Even if that’s a personal truth.” \nMy Life Story have taken all their best and familiar attributes and moved the boundaries further outward with maturity and bold insight. As Jake says: “I’m really proud of the album\, it sums up where the band is today and is a modern take on My Life Story. It progresses well from our last album twenty years ago and fans will see enough of the MLS they know and love but in the real world of today”

SUMMARY:Dreadzone - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Dreadzone plus guests \nOne of the most energetic\, exciting and powerful live bands to emerge from the post-rave scene\, Dreadzone have steadily been releasing albums and progressively bettering\, refining and perfecting their own unique and inimitable take on dub since their inception in 1993. Still going strong after 25 years in the game they have also long been and still are\, one of the best live bands around. \nIn 2019\, Dreadzone moved forward as a 5 piece\, after parting ways with their guitarist after 10 years\, and are focusing more on the electronic and dub elements of their stage show – a sound they developed in earlier years of Dreadzone. Their old skool dread sound comes bubbling to the surface on new album ‘Dread Times’ which digs deep into their dub and reggae roots whilst still keeping the beats fresh and the textures electronic. Their last album Dread Times was the band’s 8th studio album and the 3rd release on their own Dubwiser label. The album stormed into the Top 40 UK Official Album Charts on release in 2017 – the first time the band have charted in over 20 years. The album also made the Top 10 in the Indie and Dance Charts. \nIn August 2019\, the band’s own label Dubwiser records released ‘Dreadzone presents: Dubwiser Volume One’\, on which The Dread collective bring their own individual talents and skills to the label\, with a record that steps back to explore Dreadzone’s very own DNA while stepping forward to expand the label. The Dreadzone family tree has grown new branches\, with artists bearing new fruit that demand further exploration. Dreadzone Presents Dubwiser Volume One featuring Dreadzone\, Submantra\, Louchie Lou & Michie One\, Earl 16\, Bazil & Professor Skank is out now on CD\, Double Black Vinyl\, Coloured Vinyl and Digital.

SUMMARY:Scarlet Rebels & Revival Black - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Scarlet Rebels & Revival Black plus guests \nMelodic hard rock band Scarlet Rebels were formed from the foundations of Welsh rock band V0iD. \nThe band have released three official albums under the name of V0iD – Ballads For Beauties And Beasts (2009)\, Zer0 (2010) and Keep Fighting (2015). \nIn 2018\, singer-songwriter Wayne Doyle\, energetic and powerhouse drummer Gary Doyle and harmonic\, rhythmic bassist Wayne ‘Pricey’ Esmonde we’re joined by blistering lead guitarist Chris Jones and on second guitar/keyboards\, Josh Townshend\, who has rock royalty flowing through his veins\, being the son of The Who guitarist Simon Townshend and the nephew of rock icon Pete Townshend. \nAnd with the re-energised and re-imagined line-up came a new name – SCARLET REBELS \n‘Show Your Colours’ is the debut album by Scarlet Rebel\, showcasing an array of songwriting talent\, coupled with real sonic weight\, making it a stunning record from start to finish\, never losing the focus that the song is always served best. \nWith the expert ears of Tim Hamill (Lemmy\, Girlschool\, George Michael) controlling the desk\, the recording process started with drums and rhythm guitars before then handing over to the rest of the band to put their stamp on the songs. \nThe outcome was 14 songs of soaring melodies\, anthemic choruses\, blistering guitars and heavy-duty drums. \nScarlet Rebels prove on this album that songwriting\, melodies\, guitars\, solos\, bass and drums won’t ever go out of fashion. \nScarlet Rebels are on the march. \nRevival Black (previously known as ‘Black Cat Bones’) are a classic sounding hard rock band\, striking out of the cultural heartland that is Liverpool\, England. \nThey are signed to management agency\, TMR and plan a sonic incursion on the public with their forthcoming 10-song debut album – STEP IN LINE – released on Friday 11 October 2019. \nWith their own brand of honest rock n roll\, drawing upon the classic sound of the 70’s with a strong foothold in the modern day\, Revival Black have firmly planted themselves within `The New Wave of Classic Rock`. \nThey recently closed the HRH Road Trip festival in Ibiza. Opened up the inaugural Call Of The Wild Festival. Were Top 3 finalists in the Virgin Music ‘Manchester to LA’ competition and now TNT Wrestling have adopted\, Hold Me Down\, as their official event anthem. \nRevival Black’s debut album Step In Line is like the bastard son of Slash & Alter Bridge\, British Rock is in safe hands.\nMark ‘Tosh’ Davis – RockTrain\, Siren FM \nThis band likes a riff. DESCRIPTION:Johnny Quadrio plus guests Northern Revelation + Fisherman Swilbert \nEnglish by birth – Liverpudlian by the grace of God. After 2013’s critically acclaimed debut album\, QUADRIO\, Johnny Quadrio has just released his second album\, FUMAR MATA. \nOften likened to David Bowie’s more recent material\, the new songs tell stories of debauchery\, disillusionment\, heartbreak and hope. \nSometimes a band or artist won’t like being compared to another act\, however good that act is\, so it’s handy that Liverpool musician Johnny Quadrio himself acknowledges a certain similarity to David Bowie about his work. Quadrio fits into the line of classic British songwriters\, particularly those who operated in the late ’70s and early ’80s\, with inventive alt-pop tracks like ‘Everyone’s A Criminal’ being on a par with the likes of Green Gartside or Chris Difford. There are slower numbers which strip things back a little and display the quality of the songwriting that bit more\, and with stuff of the calibre of the fabulously Bowie-esque ‘Geldof’\, it’s hard to argue that this is a man who should be held in high regard. \nAfter a long hiatus in London\, Johnny has now moved back home to the best city in the world. Jimmy’s are proud to be hosting his debut Homecoming gig. \nJoined for the Jimmy’s gig by band members Shaun Lanceley (guitar)\, Dave Walker (drums)\, Daniel Brereton (bass guitar) and Gabriel P Funk (keyboards). \nIt’ll be £6 on the door.
