SUMMARY:Doghouse Derelicts - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Doghouse Derelicts plus special guests Y.O.U.N.G \nDave Budgen and Tim Hutton met when various social and professional connections they each had led to them both being long term members of the band the Dub Pistols.\n\nBudgen\, a native of York\, had been living between Yorkshire and London for years\, and Hutton\, a long-term resident of London\, moved northwards to the Leeds area in 2008\, because of a woman.\n\nAs a result of this geographical dislocation from the rest of the Dub Pistols\, who were all residents of London\, the pair found themselves on long drives to gigs every weekend together - and it was this that led to the first Doghouse Derelicts recording\, “The Devil Needs To Change”.\n\nMore songs followed - “Where I’m From” and “WTF” - and soon their cross-country automotive zig-zagging had become Doghouse Derelicts headquarters\, sessions where that week’s studio efforts were endlessly played and pored over\, and plans for world domination were hatched.\n\nIt seemed as if without looking for it or expecting it\, the means had been given to them for creative realisation...Doghouse Derelicts were on a mission!\n\nWith their First release 'Three Fiends' (available on all digital platforms). Follow up releases set for every month up to December\, a limited edition vinyl release to follow that and a 5.3% IPA called 'In the Doghouse' made by The Three Fiends Brewhouse\, don't blink coz these lads are just getting started...

SUMMARY:Children Of The State - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Children Of The State + guests Filthy Trick + Two Islands \nThe band are aurally positioned between corrupt 70s glam and wistful electronic rock\, with a wealth of ear-worms to make even the most miserable nihilist grin into their soy cappuccino. \nOn record\, Children of the State’s sound is shibookings@dovetown.co.ukny and raw with nods to The Beach Boys ‘Pet Sounds’ and Joe Meek’s ‘I Hear a New World – An Outer Space Music Fantasy’ with no musical stone being left unturned thanks to long-term collaborator and producer\, Nathan Saoudi of the Fat White Family. \nTheir live shows have been described as ‘ritualistic’ and ‘just downright bizarre’ by budding journalists across the UK\, with a recent headline show at The Old Blue Last ending in tears of blissful rapture. \n“Rather than detonating on impact\, Children Of The State seem more concerned with infiltrating the mind through a series of decadent\, well-informed morsels that bury in the brain before you realise what’s happening.“ – So Young Magazine \n“A Tainted array of ear-worms and head boppers” - Dean Jackson\, BBC Introducing \n“Fat White Family produced foot stompers” – Steve Lamacq

SUMMARY:Rory Wynne - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Rory Wynne + guests The Jagz + Bluff \nA self-professed Rockstar Rory Wynne began writing his own music aged 11 and his first track ‘I Know She Knows’ which he wrote after learning four chords went on to be his second single after being picked up by NYC Record Label ‘Mermaid Avenue’. \nAt the age of 13 Wynne released his first single Heart of Stone on YouTube with a homemade music video which caught the attention of BBC6Music DJ Tom Robinson who gave Rory his first radio airplay calling him “A true rock n roll poet” claiming that “John Peel would have loved this”. \nFollowing this Wynne received a lot of airplay on Xfm (now Radio X) thanks to John Kennedy to whom Rory sent an album of 12 songs and subsequently was invited to record a session and interview aged only 14. \nInspired this success Wynne self-released his first single Post Party Confusion. This caught the attention of many labels however Wynne opted for the New York based independent label Mermaid Avenue who re-released the song in November 2014. I Know She Knows followed in December. \nBBC Radio 1 DJ Phil Taggart heard Post Party Confusion via the BBC Introducing Uploader and played it several times on his evening show. From this Rory was contacted by Conrad Murray a Manchester based manager who has the likes of The Stone Roses\, Courteeners\, Blossoms and The Coral on his roster – and the two began working together; with Murray giving Rory his first live shows supporting Blossoms and Pale Waves amongst others. \nWynne’s next release came in the form of Why Don’t You with B-Side Lock Me In Your Wardrobe in November 2015 which were both live favourites of the audiences Wynne had been playing to. \nFollowing this Wynne spent 2016 developing his live show playing many shows around the UK gathering experience in both small venues and large venues supporting The Coral. \nIn October of 2016 Wynne made his television Acting Debut on ITV’s ‘Cold Feet’ playing the front man of a band. Alongside 3 of his own hits Wynne performed a cover of Teenage Kicks by The Undertones which closed out the show with John Thompson coming onstage to play drums. \n2017 saw the release of Wynne’s first EP What Would Rory Wynne Do? which was released in February with the single Star in the Sky being produced by James Skelly and Rich Turvey (Blossoms\, Cabbage\, The Coral) with Wynne himself taking on producing duties himself for the other three tracks. \nThis release was followed up with the NME Tour which saw Wynne play 13 dates across the UK supporting Blossoms. Following this Wynne had only a few shows in the rest of 2017\, most notably supporting Blossoms at their huge outdoor hometown show at Castlefield Bowl to over 7\,000 people as well as Liverpool Sound City\, Live at Leeds and Kendal Calling festivals. \nIn February 2018 Wynne announced he would be releasing his Self-Titled Debut LP on April 11th 2018 on Very Clever Records run by his friends and fellow Stockport band Blossoms. \nRecorded at his Stockport studio Wynne played\, produced and mixed every instrument on the record. The songs were written over the course of the year. Wynne co-wrote ‘Friends’ and ‘Think What You Like’ with Rich Turvey and ‘White Lines’ with Alex Robertson whilst writing the other 5 songs on his own – in interviews he described the LP as very autobiographical. \nThe release was accompanied with a release show with Wynne playing the album in full alongside his past releases. \nIn Sepetember 2018 Wynne released a follow up single ‘D’ya Wanna Do It Again?’ to coincide with his appearance at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival. \nAfter this he headed back to the studio to record his next single ‘Getting Over You’ which came out in February 2019. As well as this Wynne played a 4 date headline tour across the UK\, and supported Dave Keuning (of the Killers).

SUMMARY:Purple Heart Parade - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Purple Heart Parade + guests The People + Velvet Shakes \nManchester’s burgeoning post-industrial bubble was the starry embryonic sac for PURPLE HEART PARADE to spawn their shoegaze fantasies\, with Louder Than War dubbing them “a band destined for the stars” and The NME professing admiration for their “squalid feedback”\, whilst publications such as “Metro” and broadcasters like the BBC have all been purring at the Mancunian cosmic waves. \nFollowing support slots and festival appearances alongside Temples\,Toy\, Sean Lennon\, Luna\, Swervedriver\, Night Beats\, The Telescopes\, \,Pink Mountaintops\, The Vacant Lots\, as well as securing slots at Liverpool Psych Fest in 2014 & 2017\, The Secret Garden Party\, Kendal Calling & Reverence ( Portugal ) Festivals. \nThe band’s meteoric rise is also gaining interest from highly esteemed peers\, with noted admirers of the band including the likes of Nick McCabe\, Mark Gardener\, Simone Butler (Primal Scream) and Sean Lennon to name but a few. \nWhat they Say:-\n“Single “Painting Pictures” is a swirling vortex of pounding drums and steely vocals that gives way to a melodic\, trance-inducing rift.”\n-NME \nIf you’re a fan of psych / shoegaze then check them out. One of the best new bands out there…”\n– OX4 Sound – Mark Gardener’s Production Co. \n“Purple Heart Parade” are not the first band this year to show a talent for psych/shoegaze atmospherics\, but they’re surely the best at delivering it with stately grace and majesty”\n-“Metro” Newspaper \nWith obvious influences firmly set in a psychedelic time… creepings of Dylan\, Spiritualized\, and underground rock bands give the all over effect of NOW.\n-Louder Than War \n“Mission Hills is a languid piece of Dream Pop\, with those liquid guitar lines oozing from speaker to speak and whispered vocals. It’s a beautiful piece of guitar music.”\n– CLASH MAGAZINE \n“Haunting reverb drenched majesty! The band don’t just capture the sound of their hometown\, but also carry a part of it with them in a very personal way.”\n-GOD IS IN THE TV \n“Early-era Verve and Elbow meet Fleetwood Mac’s “Albatross” on this totally sublime track.”\n-AMAZING RADIO \n“Calling their music “ethereal bliss” we have no better words. Fleeting moments one expects to hear in a Spiritualized tune and rapturing elation of the likes of Cocteau Twins\, Slowdive and Lush. Call it gorgeous\, breath-taking\, dazzling – whatever superlative you choose would still underestimate it’s brilliance.”\n-REVUE – CANADA

SUMMARY:Glass Caves - LPL
DESCRIPTION:Glass Caves plus special guests Little Triggers + The Bohos \nAll journeys start somewhere. Not many start on the streets\, and fewer still end up taking in some of the UK’s best-loved festivals and venues in front of vast\, adoring crowds. Fortunately for Pontefract four-piece Glass Caves\, theirs did. And while it’s clear the band have already reached impressive heights\, for them\, this is just the beginning. \nStarting life busking on the streets of York\, the band quickly amassed a loyal and devoted following who appreciate their no-nonsense\, back-to-basics brand of self-promotion – a breath of fresh air amongst the prevalent ‘Who You Know’ mentality music scene – something which caught the eye of Manchester’s Scruff of the Neck\, a company who share their DIY mindset. \nOf course\, maintaining such a mindset will only get a band so far\, and as a result a partnership between the two was both inevitable. Not only that\, but with Scruff of the Neck behind them\, the initial ripples surrounding Glass Caves soon became waves as the music got tighter\, the crowds larger\, the venues more prestigious and the buzz much louder. \nNever has this been more evident than their Trilogy tour\, with headline shows at venues such as London’s Oslo or the 900 capacity Manchester Academy 2\, marking a huge step up from previous tours. \nIt’s not just the size of the gigs that have grown too. With Trilogy\, Glass Caves have built on their trademark stadium size anthemia\, providing it with both a slick pop edge and a sense of freneticism unseen in previous releases. Latest single\, Common Tongue is no exception. Four minutes of ‘80s fuelled electronica draped over skittering percussion and effortless lead guitar\, it’s the perfect anthesis to an otherwise bleak British winter. \nIn a further testament to Glass Caves’ ascent\, and arguably the highlight of their\, or indeed anyone’s calendar\, the band just returned from Austin\, Texas to play SXSW and though previous festival appearances at the likes of The Great Escape and Reading & Leeds were certainly nothing to sniff at\, for touring acts SXSW is a Mecca\, and the band have just started their pilgrimage. \nWith bigger stages comes the need for bigger tracks\, and while Glass Caves have always relished in their own inimitable brand of indie anthemia\, it’s their latest recordings that harbour enough bombast to fill the venues. Blending their traditional brand of indie with irresistible elements of funk and soul\, it’s a fitting step up for a band who have rapidly come in to their own.

SUMMARY:Sugarspun - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Sugarspun plus guests Springfield + The Gallery + Palava \nSugarspun released their debut single ‘Spaceman Dreams’ in April 2018\, the video of which was premiered by Clash Magazine and made This Feeling’s track of the day on Gigslutz. This coincided with a sold out This Feeling show at The Source\, Carlisle. \nOctober 2018 saw the release of Sugarspun’s second single ‘Will It Be This Way Forever?’ which received airplay in over 15 different countries including the legendary KEXP. The winter saw the band play the Etihad Stadium before the opening match of the Champions League game and also receive endorsement from Manchester based clothing company ‘Marshall Artist’ – hooking the band up with clothing from their AW18 range. Hot off the heels of a great winter\, the band went on to support Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape and play a sold out NYE show to close out the year. \nTheir third single\, ‘Never Grow Old\, was released in February 2019 and was instantly added to This Feeling’s ‘Best New Bands’ playlist and was also awarded track of the day by the award winning ‘Little Indie Blogs’ – This would lead to the band heading on a spring tour for Subconscious Sounds\, concluding with the bands biggest headline show to date at Old Fire Station.

SUMMARY:Man Of Science - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Man Of Science + Turbulence + Springbar + Baltikk \n“Completely logical\, deliciously obscure”\, “Combining mega rock riffs with some pop rock rhythms\, fused together with a healthy dose of very interesting time signatures\, MAN OF SCIENCE are a must see band for real rock fans.” \nForming in 2017\, MAN OF SCIENCE is made up of four members\, all from a vast array of past musical ventures. With one project progressing as far as an offer to support The Wombats on their 2009 tour of a post-punk-revival-obsessed United Kingdom\, the highs and lows of being in an unsigned band is a pain and an ecstasy known well to these men of science. \nThe band’s sound has been likened to acts such as Queens of the Stone Age and King Crimson for their math rock inspired time signature changes blended with heavy rock riffage. These North West rockers bring all the grunge and melodic beauty you’d expect from a band surrounded by the Manchester & Liverpool rock scene. \nSometimes\, when watching or listening\, you just have to ask yourself\, “what the f**k is going on?” …in a good way.

SUMMARY:Jekyll - MCR
DESCRIPTION:Jekyll plus guests Lynches + Ponderosa \nSince their 2013 inception\, Jekyll\, a thrilling and hard-hitting four-piece from the North West of England\, have been unrelenting in their dedication to creating and performing music. \nOriginally all from Blackpool\, the members of Jekyll now live in Liverpool\, Manchester and Blackpool and perform regularly around the North of England. Taking inspiration from a wide and eclectic pool of influences\, Jekyll’s music is known for its expansive\, melancholic soundscapes\, dynamic mood shifts and visceral intensity. \nHaving recorded early demos in 2014\, Airplay on numerous radio stations and an interview\, alongside Darlia\, on BBC Introducing Lancashire presented Jekyll with many fantastic opportunities in 2015 and 2016\, such as a BBC Introducing live session and being invited to record an EP with an award-winning producer and FOH engineer for Bring Me The Horizon and All Time Low. Jekyll’s debut EP ‘Wounds’ was released shortly after to overwhelmingly positive responses. Likened to artists such as Muse\, Radiohead\, Placebo\, Smashing Pumpkins\, Editors and Depeche Mode\, critics and audiences praised the explosive four-track EP for its ambition\, originality and professionalism. \n‘This is a release that makes you feel like everything around you is ending\, the apocalypse dawning and time slipping away. But you’ll be okay with that\, because you could do a lot worse than this being the last thing you hear’ – Vulture Hound on ‘Wounds’ \n‘Wounds’\, accompanied by music videos for two songs (created on no budget and self-released)\, led to appearances on numerous radio stations including BBC Introducing Lancashire and BBC Introducing Sheffield. \nWith recent festival appearances at Sheffield’s Tramlines\, Liverpool’s Threshold\, South Yorkshire’s Blackfest\, Manchester’s Sonder Fest\, Lancaster Music Festival\, The International Pop Overthrow Festival and Blackpool’s Rebellion Punk Fest\, Jekyll have proved that they have the confidence and the appeal to win over any audience. This\, coupled with support slots for artists such as Vukovi\, October Drift\, Racing Glaciers\, Demob Happy\, The Membranes\, Glass Caves\, The Tapestry\, and successful sold-out shows in Manchester\, is evidence that Jekyll’s momentum is fierce and their immediate future is looking very bright. \n‘Operatic\, anthemic rock’ – Louder Than War \n‘This is a band willing to uncover the darkness and show that we all have some unnerving qualities we hide’ – Louder Than War
