Jekyll – MCR

6th July 2019 - 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Jekyll plus guests Lynches + Ponderosa

Since their 2013 inception, Jekyll, a thrilling and hard-hitting four-piece from the North West of England, have been unrelenting in their dedication to creating and performing music.

Originally all from Blackpool, the members of Jekyll now live in Liverpool, Manchester and Blackpool and perform regularly around the North of England. Taking inspiration from a wide and eclectic pool of influences, Jekyll’s music is known for its expansive, melancholic soundscapes, dynamic mood shifts and visceral intensity.

Having recorded early demos in 2014, Airplay on numerous radio stations and an interview, alongside Darlia, on BBC Introducing Lancashire presented Jekyll with many fantastic opportunities in 2015 and 2016, such as a BBC Introducing live session and being invited to record an EP with an award-winning producer and FOH engineer for Bring Me The Horizon and All Time Low. Jekyll’s debut EP ‘Wounds’ was released shortly after to overwhelmingly positive responses. Likened to artists such as Muse, Radiohead, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Editors and Depeche Mode, critics and audiences praised the explosive four-track EP for its ambition, originality and professionalism.

‘This is a release that makes you feel like everything around you is ending, the apocalypse dawning and time slipping away. But you’ll be okay with that, because you could do a lot worse than this being the last thing you hear’ – Vulture Hound on ‘Wounds’

‘Wounds’, accompanied by music videos for two songs (created on no budget and self-released), led to appearances on numerous radio stations including BBC Introducing Lancashire and BBC Introducing Sheffield.

With recent festival appearances at Sheffield’s Tramlines, Liverpool’s Threshold, South Yorkshire’s Blackfest, Manchester’s Sonder Fest, Lancaster Music Festival, The International Pop Overthrow Festival and Blackpool’s Rebellion Punk Fest, Jekyll have proved that they have the confidence and the appeal to win over any audience. This, coupled with support slots for artists such as Vukovi, October Drift, Racing Glaciers, Demob Happy, The Membranes, Glass Caves, The Tapestry, and successful sold-out shows in Manchester, is evidence that Jekyll’s momentum is fierce and their immediate future is looking very bright.
