SPEAK: A monthly spoken word / poetry night held at Jimmy’s bar at the top of Bold St, Liverpool every second Tuesday of the month.

10 open mic slots available on a first come, first served basis, email – contactspeakpoetry@gmail.com – at 6pm on January 1st for slots – plus one headliner and support poet every month.

SPEAK is a non-profit organisation which provides a platform for spoken word artists in a unique venue on the head of Bold Street, facing the Iconic St Lukes Bombed out Church. We draw in performers from all backgrounds, with varying levels of experience and styles ranging from urban beat to traditional verse. Most note-able about our night is that we have tapped in to a new audience, rather than just hosting a poetry night for poets, SPEAK attracts a varied crowd of different ages, races and gender,  from literature lovers to  those just looking for a good night out. SPEAK is dedicated to bringing poetry to a broader demographic, challenging dated misconceptions and inspiring people to find their own voice on our open mic. With diverse headliners every month we are committed to finding innovative ways to ignite interest in the genre.

Please note that Jimmy's Liverpool is strictly 18+. Anyone underage will not be granted entry. We strongly advise customers to bring ID as we enforce a 'Challenge 25' policy. No refunds will be issued to underage ticket holders.
