The Ruby Tears / Running Steady Presents The Ruby Tears, The Be Positives and Cafalpa.
The Ruby Tears are back again to bring their inimitable style of pub new wave post punk rock! If you’ve not seen them before you need to get along as they may be going underground for a bit. They’ve been going from strength to strength since their last visit here in January. Playing gigs with local favourites The Mexican Dogs and starting to make waves outside of Liverpool including great gigs in Preston, Manchester, Knutsford and more recently Camden. Specially added to the bill are The Be Positives who last time they tried to play at Jimmys there was a flood and the gig got pulled. They formed in Manchester in 2018, quickly recording their eponymously titled debut record and releasing it on Italy’s White Zoo Records in 2019. The album was a runner up in the Manchester Evening News’ album of the year and writer David Sue said, ‘The LP takes a most gluttonous approach to musical genres, absorbing everything from glam-pop to garage-rock to lush piano balladry. Crucially, though, it’s a sound which never threatens to overwhelm the listener’. Cafalpa are brand new and featuring Samya O’Grady fronting her new band. She tells us to expect a sound which combines jazz and folk but has a hippie-dippie vibe and a soulful touch. Having seen and heard her several times solo over the years, we know it is going to be great!
